From Singapore to JB: A Painless Weekend Trip Guide

2026-07-05 · 4 min read

Every weekend, thousands of Singaporeans cross the Causeway for food, shopping and a cheaper night out. The difference between a great JB weekend and a tiring one usually comes down to two decisions: when you cross and where you sleep.

Crossing the Causeway

Friday night (7–11pm) and Saturday morning (8am–noon) are the heaviest hours at Woodlands–CIQ. If you can, cross Friday before 5pm or Saturday before 7am. Coming back, Sunday 3–9pm is the crunch — aim for early afternoon or after 10pm.

No car? Take the Causeway Link bus or the KTM Shuttle Tebrau (book ahead — it sells out), then a short Grab ride into the city. Grab works everywhere in JB and rides within the city centre are typically RM5–12.

Why stay at KSL rather than by the border

KSL City Mall sits in the Taman Abad district — 10 minutes by Grab from CIQ, surrounded by JB's best-known food streets. Staying here means the mall (open till 10pm), massage places, 24-hour eateries and convenience stores are literally downstairs, so you're not shuttling back and forth all weekend.

Our serviced condos at KSL D'Esplanade put you right above the action: check in, drop your bags, and you're at dinner five minutes later. Studios suit couples; our 2–4 bedroom units fit families and groups at a fraction of hotel pricing.

Message us on WhatsApp for tonight's rates — booking direct is usually cheaper than the OTA price you see.
